Louvre and Buffalo Bill Dinner Show

The Louvre used to be a palace before Versailles was built. The building itself is huge and impressive. Only adults have to pay to get in. Aiden and that crowd are watching a guy make huge bubbles with a long string on two sticks and  bubble liquid. It was neat. I should have taken a picture.

Crazy kids enjoying the prism rainbows all over the floor.

too bad it wasn't empty so we could run down the stairs like Audrey Hepburn

love the colors and style in these old paintings

very disappointed it's behind glass and that you can't get very close unless you are in with a class or something

I could spend a week in here trying to see everything. We mainly looked at Egyptian
artifacts, and a few sculptures and paintings.

Tristan has been studying Egypt in school this term. This is a real mummy. He knew which organs go in which pot. Each has a different animal representing that organ. We probably should have paid for audioguides since everything is in French so we couldn't read about what we were looking at. Some of the more prominent pieces did have cards in different languages but the kids keep moving and don't give you much time to stop and learn.

The Venus De Milo

after two hours or so the little boys have had enough for one day so we leave and drive back to the hotel and let the older three swim before dinner.

Everyone at the BB show gets a hat and they assign you a color so you can root for your cowboy.

A little entertainment while waiting to go in. Avery loved all of this cowboy stuff! The band was good, love me some banjo and cowboy songs!

It was dark by the time they served us but dinner consisted of chili, potatoes, sausage, ribs, chicken, cornbread, tortilla chips, coke, apple pie and ice cream. They offered coffee with dessert and beer with dinner and acted like we were crazy not to want any and they had to get Aiden water because he hates soda pop. You can see it's pretty much like Medieval Times if you have ever done that. However I was glad they were not trying to constantly sell me stuff during the show like M.T. does.

I was glad we were seated at the end instead of the sides.

The headless horseman made an appearance. Avery wanted to find him after but we didn't see him again.

It was a good dinner show but I think the story line could use help. The food was pretty good. However, this cost us as much as going to Disneyland for a whole day. That's nuts.

The soldiers riding around with the American flag got me a little misty eyed, love my America.

Where can I get me a nice feather headress? They're cool.

Whew! That took a long time, blogging the week in Paris. It was fun and now we are home getting ready for some Halloween fun tonight, Guy Fawkes this weekend and Avery's birthday next week.

Sainte Chapelle, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur

love the accordian playing

Hotel Deville is very impressive looking.

Sainte Capelle is surrounded by the
Palace of Justice. There is scaffolding
all on the one side in and out.
These old buildings are always
having something repaired.
This one was built in the 1200's
by St Louis(he was king then)

there is a smaller chapel when you walk in
this is where the old palace workers worshipped.
so pretty

upstairs is the big lovely chapel full of stained glass depicting
all the bible stories. So much light and color surrounds
you and the rest is beautifully painted.

Then on to Notre Dame. Free to go in
but you have to pay if you want the bell tower tour.
We didn't do that. All those stairs would have
finished us for the day.

It's beautiful inside and out.

look, he's holding his head

some other tower we passed

back of Sacre Coeur
we walked up these stairs and more to get up to the church

there is a nice park behind it

view from front, it's the highest point in the city

taking the tram back down the hill

the area in front is a nice park too but on a steep hill.
they were having an exercise for the heart event.
